Double Glory For New Ford Mondeo

DOUBLE GLORY FOR NEW FORD MONDEO

Double win for Ford at What Car? Awards - Mondeo 5dr and Mondeo Estate

THE GROSVENOR, London, 18 January, 2008 – Ford's new Mondeo has picked up two of the industry's most prestigious accolades as the fleet and family favourite continues to receive recognition from all corners of the motoring press.

At last night’s What Car? awards, held in The Grosvenor, Park Lane, the Mondeo 2.0 TDCi Zetec scooped a win in both the Family Car and Estate Car categories.

Judges selected this particular model due to its frugal yet lively and refined diesel powertrain combined with a specification-packed interior.

Steve Fowler, group editor, What Car?, said: “The new Mondeo is nothing short of fantastic and head and shoulders above its rivals. Whichever model you choose you’ll have a great looking, well-built and well-equipped family car that’s a joy to drive or be driven in.”

The award was collected by Jens Ludman, Mondeo Chief Engineer. The man behind car’s exceptional driving qualities said: “It’s an honour to collect yet another major automotive award for our new Mondeo.

“Competition is tough, and getting tougher, so the pressure was on to deliver something very special. The reception Mondeo has received across Europe suggests the car buying public like what everyone at Ford has created. Strong sales plus recognition from so many respected experts, including the What Car? panel, makes it all worthwhile.”

While the 2.0 TDCi Zetec is the choice of the What Car? panel, the Mondeo range is comprehensive and starts at just £15,195. Specifications start with the Edge and work upwards through Zetec and then luxury Ghia, Titanium and Titanium X derivatives. Five different petrol and four diesel engines plus four-door, five-door or estate bodystyles provide maximum customer choice.
